AEGEAN 600 has been awarded the Gold Level Clean Regatta Certification from Sailors for the Sea!

Clean Regatta is the world’s leading certification programme for water-based events, administered by Sailors for the Sea, a nonprofit organisation that educates and empowers sailors and boaters to protect and restore our oceans and coastal waters.

At Hellenic Offshore Racing Club (HORC), we believe that we have an obligation and a responsibility to operate in a sustainable manner. We need to be part of the solution, enhancing the understanding of the global problem and making sure that we use the best practices to avoid environmental pollution of any kind.

HORC joined forces with HELMEPA (Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association) to create and push forward significant environmental actions as well as seminars targeted to the participants, volunteers and employees involved in organizing the AEGEAN 600 Yacht Race and to teach everyone the actions one needs to take to protect the environment. All actions planned and accomplished were based around the organization’s point of reference, which is the Olympic Marine in Lavrion.

A full list of activities taken as well as the incentives for the participants are listed at the following URL.

Furthermore, AEGEAN 600 has adopted the Audouin’s Gull (Aegean Gull), an emblematic seabird of the Greek archipelago, as part of its environmental program together with Hellenic Ornithological Society.

We would like to thank once again the Municipality of Lavreotiki and the Olympic Marine for their kind support, the Green team and each one of you who contributed to our efforts to achieve this certification. We promise we will surpass any drawbacks and achieve platinum status next year.
